French carmaker Renault launched a new model of its Captur SUV. The 2020 Renault Captur facelift has been launched in the Russian market. Its initial price is 1,020,00 RUB (Russian currency) i.e. around 10.79 lakh rupees. The Capture facelift is designed keeping in mind emerging markets like India, Brazil and Russia. The updated capture looks include cosmetic updates as well as new features. Also this crossover has been upgraded mechanically.
The Renault Capture facelift has been mildly changed in design, while the overall profile remains the same. The front grille now features chrome elements on the grille, giving it bold and modern appeal. Apart from this, the updated Capture comes with LED headlight, LED DRL, new 17-inch alloy wheels and a slight change in taillights. Many color options have also been given in the new capture.
Renault has also updated the interior of the Capture facelift, which the company claims has improved the quality and finish of the cabin. However, the overall layout of the new capture cabin is the same as before. The updated model has a larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new 3-spoke steering wheel and gloss black central panel.
What new features?
Renault Capture has a fresh look and updated interior as well as new features. It includes features such as remote engine start function, heated steering wheel and rear seats, Bose audio system and adjustable mood lighting with 8-colors. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available with the infotainment system as before. Features such as 360-degree camera and blind-spot monitoring function have been given in the top variants of the capture.
The older model of Renault Capture was based on the M0 platform, while the facelift model is based on the ‘next-generation modular SUV platform or M0 + platform. The new Renault Capture, launched in Russia, features a 1.6-liter petrol engine as before, which generates 114 bhp power and 156 Nm peak torque. Apart from this, a new 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine has been given in this crossover, which generates 150bhp power and 250Nm torque.
Renault Capture Facelift to be launched in India?
Renault Capture has two versions worldwide. One version is sold in Europe, which is based on the Clio platform. The second version is for emerging markets such as India, Russia and Brazil, based on the more affordable M0 platform. In Russia, ‘Captur’ is sold under the name ‘Kaptur’, as the ‘C’ is pronounced as ‘S’ in the Cyrillic alphabet. Renault is also planning to bring an updated model of Capture in India with mild cosmetic changes. These changes are expected to be similar to the model launched in Russia. However, the Indian model of capture will be based on the M0 platform. In the Indian market, this crossover BS6 compliant will come with 1.5-liter petrol and 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engines.
