Benelli launched its first BS6 compliant motorcycle as the updated Imperial 400. The starting price of the motorcycle is 1.99 lakh rupees. The BS6 Imperial 400 is Rs 20,000 more expensive than the older model. The company says that the price increase is due to the changes made in the engine in view of the new emission norms and the increase in the currency exchange rate. The motorcycle is also available in two other color options Black and Red, for which Rs 2.11 lakh will have to be spent.
The engine gets the same power as before
The new Imperial 400 motorcycle is equipped with a 374 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine, which was also offered in the BS4 model. The special thing is that despite being upgraded to BS6, there is no reduction in its torque and power. The updated engine generates a peak output of 21 horsepower at 6000 rpm and torque of 29 Nm at 3500 rpm. However, the BS4 engine used to get 21 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 29 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. As can be seen, peak power and torque are the same as before but are now generated at different RPMs.
Dual-channel ABS Classic 350 to 30 thousand Rs. Became expensive
The Imperial 400 was first introduced in India in October 2019 with a price tag of Rs 1.69 lakh. It was called the Modern-Classic, which challenged the Royal Enfield 350 in terms of price. However, now looking at the new price, the Imperial 400 base is Rs 30,000 more expensive than the Classic 350 (Rs 1.67 lakh) equipped with dual-channel ABS.
