Reliance had its 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM 2020) today. In this, the company’s chairman Mukesh Ambani made several big announcements. Ambani said that Reliance has partnered with Jio and Google.
Ambani said that Reliance Jio has prepared a 5G solution that can be rolled out to customers by next year. This roll out will be done after making available 5G spectrum from the government. After the spectrum is available, the Jio platform will be able to export 5G solutions to other telecom operators in the world.
About 35 crore 2G users in India
Ambani said that Jio’s objective is to make India 2G free. For this, the company will provide 4G internet to 2G customers. The company aims to provide smartphones to all Indians. There are around 35 crore 2G feature phone users in India. Google and Jio together will make cheaper smartphones for these people.
Millions of Indians will get internet
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that in a country like India, everyone should have internet. With the partnership of Jio and Google, millions of Indians who do not have smartphones will be able to get internet. Google will invest Rs 33,737 crore for a 7.7 percent stake in Jio platforms. The two companies will jointly create the operating system for Android-based smartphones.
The two companies will bring together cheaper 5G smartphones.
