Maruti Suzuki is working on several new cars for the Indian market. The new report claimed that the company will introduce three great models in India in the next two years, including two SUVs and a utility vehicle style-hatchback car.
As reported by Emkay Global Financial Services, Maruti Suzuki will launch off-roader SUV Jimny in India, a new mid-size SUV and a utility-vehicle style hatchback car named XL5. The XL5 will basically be based on the WagonR, which has been seen many times during testing. It is expected to get seats in three lines. Reports say that it will be sold from Maruti’s premium dealership Nexa.
Talking about the off-roader SUV Jimny, earlier reports have said that the upcoming Jimny in India will be a 5-door model and will have a longer wheelbase. This 5-door model can be launched in the market as the new Maruti Suzuki Gypsy. In the market, it will compete with Mahindra Thar.
The Indian model of the Jimny SUV is expected to get a 1.5-liter petrol engine, which generates 103bhp power and 138Nm torque. There will be 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox options with it. This off-roader SUV will get Suzuki’s advanced all-grip 4 × 4 system.
New mid-size SUV in Creta-Celtos collision
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki’s new mid-size SUV will be based on Toyota’s DNGA platform, which has been used in Toyota’s compact SUV Raize. This new model is expected to be launched in the first half of the year 2022. Its direct competition in the market will be Hyundai Creta and Kia Celtos. This mid-size SUV and 5-door Jimny will also be sold from Maruti’s premium dealership Nexa.
