Maruti Suzuki is working on a new entry-level hatchback. It is given the YNC codename. Reports have said that the new model will be the next-generation Maruti Celerio. The new Maruti Suzuki Celerio has recently been spotted during testing for the first time. It is expected to be launched later this year or early next year.
The current model year of the Maruti Celerio was launched in 2014. The new Celerio will be based on Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect platform, which is advanced and lightweight. This platform has been used in cars like Swift, Baleno, New WagonR and S-Preso. As of now, the new Celerio will also be sold from the company’s Arena dealership. The look of the new-generation Celerio will be different from the current model. It will be styled like an SUV.
This new car from Maruti is expected to be offered as an entry-level crossover. It will compete with vehicles like Renault Kwid and Tata Motors upcoming micro-SUV HBX. The new Celerio can get some high-end features, including LED daytime running lights, stylish taillamps with LED inserts, rear wipers, wing mirrors with integrated blinkers and new-style alloy wheels. The new Celerio will get more ground clearance.
The new Celerio will feature features such as Suzuki’s new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel, powered ORVM and reverse camera along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For safety-security, the car will get standard features like dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert, seat-belt reminder and rear parking sensors.
Engine and gearbox
The new Maruti Celerio will get a 1.0-liter petrol engine, which generates 67bhp power and 90Nm torque. It will get 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. Like the current model, the new Celerio will also come in the CNG version.
