MG Motor India (MG Motor India) is preparing to launch its 7-seater premium SUV Gloster (Gloster) in the Indian market soon. The company may launch MG Gloster in the upcoming festive season in India. MG Motor showcased this premium SUV for the first time at the 2020 Auto Expo held in February. Car lovers have been waiting for this MG SUV. The company has been continuously testing this SUV in India. The company has also released an official video of the MG Gloster SUV. It revealed that this premium SUV car from MG will get great features found in cars like BMW.
This SUV is equipped with advanced safety features
The MG Gloster’s teaser video has revealed many advanced safety features found in this SUV. According to the video, features like front collision warning system and automatic emergency braking system have been given in the Gloster SUV. This feature proves to be very beneficial in terms of safety, with the help of which the road ahead is scanned. The advantage is that if the system feels that the driver is not able to apply a fast brake in an emergency, then it first warns and then brakes automatically. This will reduce road accidents.
‘Next-Gen Automotive Technology’
The MG Gloster teaser video shows MG Motor’s journey so far in India and its upcoming SUV, the Gloster, which has the tagline ‘Next-Gen Automotive Technology.’ The SUV will have a length of over 5 meters and will be the company’s flagship model in India.
The company is continuously increasing its portfolio in India. MG has recently launched the 6-seater SUV Hector Plus (Hector Plus) in the Indian market after the success of MG Hector (MG Hector), the electric car ZS EV. The MG Gloster will compete in India with SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner (Toyota Fortuner), Mahindra Alturas G4 (Mahindra Alturus G4) and Ford Endeavor (Ford Endeavor).
Talking about the look and styling of the Gloster, the front of this SUV gets a large octagonal grille with chrome slats, sweptback LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, fog lamps with round chrome bezel and a sculpted bumper and hood. Apart from this, elements like roof rails, chrome door handles, LED taillamps, chrome around the window line, bold shoulder crease and dual-tone alloy wheels make the look more stylish.
MG connected car in Gloster SUV is iSmart technology which will have many advanced connectivity features. The SUV can get features such as 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, flat bottom 3-spoke steering wheel, voice command, sunroof and leather seat upholstery with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Along with this, the Gloster will come with three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, large panoramic sunroof, 8.0 digital instrument screen, 360 degree camera, powered front seats with ventilation.
In terms of safety, the MG Gloster will feature ABS with EBD, airbags, over-speed warning, seat belt reminders and Pedestrian Crash Safety. Apart from this, this premium SUV will get an automatic park assist feature, which helps the driver in easy parking of the car.
Rebased version of Maxus D90
The Gloster is a rebadged version of the company’s Maxus D90 (Maxus D90) sold in China. Apart from this, the same SUV is also sold in the name of LDV D90. SAIC, which owns MG, also owns Maxus and LDV, which are its subsidiary brands. Explain that MG Motor is a British car manufacturer owned by SAIC Motor of China.
The Gloster or Maxus D90 comes with a 2.0-liter single-turbo petrol engine in the Chinese market. This SUV is available in two versions. One version generates power of 224 PS and torque of 360 Nm. While the second version generates power of 218 PS and torque of 350 Nm. Apart from this, it is also available in 2.0-liter single-turbo and twin-turbo diesel units.
The single-turbo diesel unit generates 163 PS of power and 375 Nm of torque. While the twin-turbo diesel engine generates power of 218 PS and torque of 480 Nm. The Gloster SUV coming to the Indian market will get a 2.0-liter by-turbo diesel engine. This engine will come with an 8-speed AMT gearbox. In addition, a part-time 4WD system will also be available.
Price and launching
This 7-seater premium SUV from MG can be priced around Rs 35 lakh. Some reports have claimed that MG may launch its SUV Gloster in October.
