Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan has accused Bollywood of tarnishing its image. Amid allegations against Bollywood, Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday urged the government to stand behind Hindi cinema. Bachchan had targeted BJP MP Ravi Kishan without mentioning his name, saying, “We make holes in the plate in which we eat.” The allegations have since been substantiated. Now Kangana Ranaut has also jumped into the fray and tweeted another tweet targeting Jaya Bachchan.
Kangana has responded to Jaya Bachchan by saying what ‘plate’ the Bollywood industry has given. What kind of plate did Jayaji and his industry give, (What work did Jayaji and his industry give.) I was getting a plate (I was getting a job). Which was getting a two minute item number and a romantic scene. After he also slept with the hero … I taught the industry feminism. Decorate my plate with patriotic and feminist films. So this is my plate, Jayaji is not yours’, another controversial tweet has been made by Kangana.
The issue of drug use in Bollywood was also discussed in the Lok Sabha on Monday. BJP MP Ravi Kishan raised the issue and demanded an inquiry into the matter. Without mentioning her name, Jaya Bachchan had said, “People are making holes in the plate in which they eat”.
Jaya Bachchan’s support for cinema
Opposing BJP MP Ravikishan’s statement that ‘film industry has become a haven for drugs’, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday strongly supported film industry in the Rajya Sabha. “Those who make a name for themselves in the industry are now calling it a gutter,” he said.
