Drivers are now freed from the hassle of carrying driver’s license, RC book, other vehicle related documents while traveling. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and State Highways has amended the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 and issued a notification. Accordingly, the new rules have come into force from October 1. Accordingly, traffic rules will be better handled through IT and electronics.
Under the new rules, it is no longer necessary to carry a driver’s license, RC book continuously. It is now possible to save these documents in the Central Government’s online portal Digital Locker or M Transport. Police will not be asked to check vehicle documents validated through electronics. All those details will be recorded in the portal and updated from time to time. The name of the officer who conducted the investigation will also be recorded in it. This will definitely reduce the hassle of the driver.
Under the new rules, drivers will be able to use a mobile phone while driving for navigation.
