Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kings XI Punjab by 69 runs in the IPL 2020 match on Thursday. This is Punjab’s fourth defeat in a row. This has increased the difficulty of reaching the playoffs in their competition. Hyderabad scored 201 for 6. Punjab managed to reach 132 all out in 16.5 overs.
Hyderabad skipper David Warner won the toss and elected to bat first. Warner and Johnny Bairstow took advantage of the decision. He started washing the Punjab bowlers from the first over. He scored 160 runs in 15 overs. Warner scored 52 off 40 balls with 5 fours and 1 six while Bairstow scored 97 off 55 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes. Ravi Bishnoi took Warner’s wicket in the 16th over. He then struck out Bairstow for 97 in the same over.
In the 17th over, Hyderabad got the third wicket on the first ball. His position went from 160 not out to 161 for three. After that, Bishnoi dismissed Abdul Samad and made Hyderabad 173 for four. Arshdeep dismissed Priyam Garg. In the end, Hyderabad managed 201 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Punjab bowlers made a great comeback in the last 5 overs. He scored 41 runs and sent back 6 batsmen. Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets while Arshdeep and Mohammad Shami took one wicket each.
Though Punjab stopped Hyderabad in the last 5 overs, they did not start well. Mayank Agarwal was run out for 9. After that Simran Singh was dismissed for 11 runs. With 31 for 2, Rahul and Nicholas were on the field. That’s when Hyderabad took a big wicket. Captain KL Rahul was dismissed for 11 runs.
Chasing the big runs, Punjab reached 96 in 10 overs. Nicholas Puran batted well to put Punjab in the match. But the wickets were falling on the other side. Puran scored 77 off 37 balls. Punjab were all out for 132 in 16.5 overs.
