Tata Motors (Tata Motors) has been very active during the past few years in terms of upgrading or downgrading the features offered in its cars, keeping in mind the needs of the market and customers. Adopting the same trend, Tata Motors has now added a new feature to its entry-level hatchback car Tiago (Tiago).
Steering mounted audio and phone controls were not provided in the mid variant (XT) of the Tiago with new features until some time ago. According to the report, the updated brochure that Tiago has now shared with dealer sources shows that the XT trim has now come with new control features for the convenience of the customers.
Earlier, only the XZ and XZ variants were given steering mounted control features. Steering mounted audio control is an important passive safety feature in today’s era. This feature helps the driver control the music system of the car as well as answer phone calls without moving the hand from the steering wheel while driving.
While Tata has added this new feature to the XT trim, they have also removed a feature from this trim. The rear parcel shelf tray is no longer available with the XT trim as the car gets new updates. According to the report, the price of XT trim has been increased after the new feature update, which has now become expensive by Rs 1,000.
According to the report, Tata has not yet made any official announcement regarding this update. Dealers still have stock of XT variants which do not feature steering mounted controls. It is expected that in the coming days, Tata Motors will announce the official price and update.
In terms of sales, around 55 months or longer, Tiago’s production has crossed the 3 lakh unit mark, a feat in itself. It is the only car in the segment to have a 4-star safety rating in the G-NCAP (G-NCAP) crash test. In September 2020, the Tiago was sold over 6,000 units, making it Tata’s best-selling car. With the new feature added on the XT trim, Tata can expect higher sales this festive season.
