Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut had claimed that the two-and-a-half-hour power outage in metropolitan Mumbai and Thane on Monday could be a sabotage.
The power supply to the entire Mumbai city was disrupted at 10.30 am on Monday. As a result, millions of people were annoyed when local trains stopped where they were. People who went to work were trapped half way. The grid failure was attributed to a power outage. According to BEST, the power supply from Tata was cut off due to grid failure, which adversely affected the 360 MW power supply. In some areas, power supply was restored in the evening.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had ordered an inquiry into the incident. The report of this investigation has not yet come. Meanwhile, state energy minister Nitin Raut said the possibility of sabotage or fraud could not be ruled out.
